NAIROBI, KENYA – From 9th to 12th October 2023, Rwanda Union of the Blind (RUB) leaders, Dr. Beth Mukarwego Nasiforo, Dr. Suubi Patrick, Dr. Donatilla Kanimba, and Ms. Rachel Musabyimna, participated in the International Council for Education of People with Visual Impairment – Africa (ICEVI Africa) conference. The conference, held at the prestigious Panari Hotel in Nairobi, Kenya, focused on the theme of “The Future of Education for People with Visual Impairment in Africa.”
The ICEVI Africa conference aimed to bring together a diverse range of stakeholders in the education and related sectors, including policy-makers, technology developers and suppliers, educational service providers, researchers, teachers, learners, and consumer representatives. The goal was to discuss and shape the future of education for people with visual impairment in Africa.
The conference provides a unique opportunity for RUB Members to learn from experts in the field and share experiences advocating for the education of visually impaired individuals in Rwanda.
During the conference, participants engaged in discussions, workshops, and presentations aimed at exploring best practices, innovative technologies, and policy recommendations for improving education for visually impaired individuals in Africa. The conference also provided a platform for networking and knowledge sharing among attendees.
