With the support from GIZ Rwanda, the Rwanda Union of the Blind (RUB) has distributed 100 mobile phones to board, sub-committee members & branch representatives to enable them effectively communicate with the office regarding human rights issues.
The event, which took place on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, is part of the GIZ-sponsored project called Rights Based program (RBP-GIZ).
According to the Rwanda Union of the Blind, the main purpose of giving them these mobile phones is to facilitate them to provide timely information on their human rights concerns and to facilitate communication with RUB and its members.
In total, among those who received these phones include 8 board members, 64 branch representatives and 28 sub-committee members.
The GIZ Rwanda’s Rights-Based Program (RBP) is a joint Rwandan-German Development cooperation project implemented by GIZ, commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
The program supports civil society organisations in their campaigns for the human rights of Rwanda’s most vulnerable populations including persons with visual impairment.
